May Day! Week ending: 26.5.17

Hello,

This week we have had a very fun week as today is May Day!  As we did so well, we all had a lovely ice lolly as a treat.

In PSHE we have been learning about how you look after your teeth.  It is important to clean your teeth twice a day for two minutes.  We also learnt to use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste.

On Tuesday we became geographers and had a trip out to Redbourn High Street for our topic learning.  We took pictures of all of the buildings and made our own map of the high street.

Congratulations to Lexi who is our star of the week for offering to help and showing kindness during lunchtime.

Home Learning is to record what you get up to over half term in your own way. We have also sent home the lines for our play ‘Maui Catches the Sun’. Some children will have lines to learn whilst others will have routines.

We are all looking forward to a fun-packed half-term break!

Percy the park keeper fun! Week Ending: 19.5.17

Hello,

This week we have been showing off our maths skills by answering lots of different questions in our own special booklets.

Today during PSHE we did a germ experiment. We placed glitter on our hands then we gave our friend a high five to see how easily germs can spread. It is important to wash your hands before you eat, after you have been to the toilet and after playing outside.

In English we wrote a character description plan and a character description about Percy the park keeper.
Percy wears big, black boots when he is outside playing in the puddles. He is kind and gentle to the animals as when they are hurt he looks after them.

During computing we used the programme Microsoft Excel to input data about the suspects linked to the missing cake. Then we sent a class email to Mrs McLellan explaining who we thought it might be.

Well done to Olly who is Star of the Week for making good choices. Congratulations to Theo who will be spending the weekend with Snowy our Learning Owl for being a great team player.

Have a good weekend.

Showing Off Week! Week Ending: 12.5.17

Hello,

Today we wrote in our special booklets as we have been having a showing off week!
On Wednesday we had our class photo taken and we can’t wait to see it!

In English we have been busy writing book reviews. We wrote about our favourite part of the book and who we would recommend it to and why. We also rated how many stars we would give the book.

This week we have been practising our maypole and country dancing, it is coming together well and we are looking forward to performing on May Day.

Well done to Hollie who is our Star of the Week for applying herself and listening to instructions.
Snowy will be spending the weekend with Archie for his fantastic attitude to his learning.

Don’t forget this evening is the school disco!

As the weather is warming up please remember to bring a water bottle and sun hat into school. You will also still need to bring a coat in for the cold and rainy days.

Home learning is to design a poster for the Strawberry Fayre using the information on the sheet provided.  Make the posters nice and colourful!

Have a good weekend!

Percy the Park Keeper. Week Ending: 5.5.17

Hello,

This week during maths we have been working out how to find a fraction of a number.

It was great fun learning a new maypole dance. We are currently learning a dance called The Barbour Pole.

Today we wrote a letter to Rickmansworth Waterway Trust to thank them for our brilliant canal boat trip. We also shared some facts in our letter and also our favourite part of the trip.

This week we have read Percy the Park Keeper After the Storm. Some of us had a go at designing our own tree house similar to the one in the story.

Next week we are going to write a book review about our favourite Percy the Park Keeper story. We have currently read The Rescue Party and After the Storm.

Home learning this week is to write a book review on your favourite book and record in your own way.

Well done to Thomas who will be spending the weekend with Snowy for his brilliant presentation.

Congratulations to Sharon who is Star of the Week for applying her perseverance skills.
